Hi, thanks for visiting our Matheson Cafe website, we look forward to you visiting us at Lake Matheson.

 

Having lived in Fox Glacier since 1997 we have always enjoyed regular visits to Lake Matheson. We could see the potential of this unique location, and the possibilities to increase the visitor experience. We purchased the property in 2004 and started planning future developments.

A small refurbishment of the existing café took place. With the increase in visitor numbers we decided to expand. We also got married and added two children to the Fox Glacier population.

In 2008 we opened our new restaurant facility and converted the existing restaurant into ReflectioNZ Gift Shop & Gallery. New car park facilities are on the way and an interpretation shelter will be completed by November 2008.

We aim to cater for all visitors to Lake Matheson and hope the facilities we provide at the start of the walking track will enhance your Lake Matheson experience.  We strive for excellence to bring you the very best in our products and services in this special location.

We are only a 5-minute drive from Fox Glacier and 25 minutes from Franz Josef Glacier so please come and visit.
